Our team recommends… Puerto Madryn

Melina Russo and Mariel Pagella from our leisure department tell us about their experience in Puerto Madryn, home of right whales, penguin colonies and traditional Welsh settlements.

The whale season is one of the main attractions that have made this city famous worldwide. From July to December, various populations of southern right whales reach these shores.

Visitors may watch them both on board the boats leaving from Puerto Pirámides and from some natural viewpoints and almost all the beaches bordering the city. When you are in the area, you fell their presence everywhere. It´s magical.

Another must-see is Estancia San Lorenzo, a sheep farm with an amazing breeding colony of Magellanic penguins. The ranch is part of the Protected Natural Area Peninsula Valdes, UNESCO World Heritage Site, and offers a long trail to be able to walk with close proximity to the penguins. It´s incredible to walk so close to them, almost felling like a guest in one of their homes for the season.

Finally, we depart early in the morning towards Rawson, Chubut’s capital city, to enjoy more wildlife. This time is the turn of the Commerson’s dolphins from the port. We sail through river and then open sea until we got the chance to meet this lively and joyful friends. After the navigation we continue the tour to Trelew to visit the Museum for Palaeontology Egidio Feruglio (MEF).  This is one of Latin America’s most important museums in the field where you can stroll through the different geological eras, from the first humans back to the Big Bang.

Then, we continue our trip to Gaiman, a small town which keeps the Welsh heritage at its best! Its architecture, tea rooms and tasty Welsh fruit cake are some of the treasures offered to its visitors.

Do not miss the opportunity to travel back in time and understand the way of leaving, culture and how this people work hard to honor their roots through time.

‘Aussie Boom’: Australian tourism landing in Argentina

Buenos Aires,  September 5, 2017. The National Ministry of Tourism, through the National Institute of Tourism Promotion (INPROTUR), and the Argentine Chamber of Tourism participated together with the support of the Argentinian Embassy in the Australian ATALA Travel Week hosted in Melbourne and Sydney, last August. This comes at exactly the right time, since a new official bulletin declared the retreat of the reciprocity fee for Australian citizens starting (past) July 1st.

ATALA is an Australian association dedicated to the promotion of tourism destinations in Latin America. Its mission is to stimulate the growth of trips to the region, establish and develop relations among members, improve the knowledge about destination in the market and to advise and provide the Latinamerican representatives all the information about the requirements of the Australian market.

This Association offers an annual event called Latin America Travel Week with the objective of bringing the region’s tourism offer to the Australian market, both to travel agents and to final consumers.  This event became a vital opportunity to introduce Argentina and its products in the oceanic market. Travel agents, tour operators, the press and the general public received detailed information about our tourism offer.

Attendees were mostly prospect travelers with Latin America as destination for end of this year or during 2018. In some cases, those with air tickets already purchased.

Patagonia, Iguazu Waterfalls and Buenos Aires were the most requested destinations. People were interested in coming face to face with heritage sites inscribed in UNESCO, our history and culture, and in particular the music of the Tango.

Our Team recommends – Argentina Northwest

Laura Barreiro, a member of our MICE Department, tells us about her experience in the Argentinean Northwest.

Nature, culture, peace, diversity, colors… All is combined in the Argentinean Northwest.

Salta’s city, with its colonial architecture, its narrow streets, the surrounding hills and its various parks and beautiful churches, is the ideal starting point for discovering the region.

An outstanding experience is visiting Cafayate. The accessing route does not stop amazing the travelers. The mountain road dazzles with the changes in landscapes, the variety of geological formations, the red colored earth…Cafayate belongs to the Salta Wine Route. The main wine in this region is the Torrontes (white wine).

An essential visit is discovering the Calchaquies Valleys, with its imposing mountains, cornice roads, rivers, streams and charming little villages.

Another incredible visit is Salinas Grandes. These salt flats are an unforgettable white desert that contrast with the blue sky and amaze with their immensity.

Jujuy province also has the Quebrada de Humahuaca, which has been declared as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. Here, villages such as Tilcara, Humahuaca and Purmamarca (with its incredible Cerro de los Siete Colores -Hill of the Seven Colors-) are characterized by their traditions and the tranquility, surrounded by a wonderful natural area.

Another highlights? The regional gastronomy, folkloric music and people’s charm. Argentinean North is definitely a place not to be missed!

The new stunning mural art of ‘La Boca’ (must see) by Melisa Boratyn

IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS THE SOUTHERN  ‘PORTEÑO’ NEIGHBORHOOD HAS BEEN FILLED WITH AMAZING STREET ART THAT SURPRISES FOR ITS QUALITY (AND FOR ITS DIMENSIONS) / ARGENTINE AND EUROPEAN ARTISTS / WHAT’S THE “COLOR BA” INITIATIVE ALL ABOUT?

One of the most interesting news is that the neighborhood seems to be increasingly intervened. In building facades, forgotten walls or local shutters, dozens of murals of many artists and groups related to, and emerging from urban art – mostly thanks to the “Color BA” movement – transform the public space into an art festival. In only two editions, this initiative managed to transform – and as they claim – beautify La Boca, legitimizing the conception that art should be within reach of all.

Three main representations of this murals boom: the imposing portrait of a girl of La Boca by the Argentine artist “El Marian” located at Suarez & Juan de Dios Filiberto intersection; a double median by italian “Millo” (main photo of this article) located at Benito Pérez Galdos & Caboto; and the colors of irish artist “Maserart”, in a half block intervention on Martin Rodriguez street Martín Rodríguez between Ayolas and Lamadrid.
